Size Fractionation without the Hassle
Manual extraction of DNA from gels has long been a laborious and inexact technique.nWith the advent of next-gen sequencing technologies, the need for a more streamlined approach to DNA size selection and gel purification has become particularly pressing. Sage Science has developed just such an alternative — one that generates superior samples in a fraction of the time.

Extracting with the Pippin
Collect DNA fractions by inputting the average fragment length (or peak) into a software interface. The software will automatically default the minimum “cut” range. For larger collections, adjust the range values directly.

Narrow Size Ranges for Next Gen Sequencing

For most Next Gen sequencing platforms, having a narrow range of sheared fragments improves run efficiency and facilitates assembly. With the Pippin Prep, extractions from sheared genomic samples achieve minimum distributions with CVs as low as 3.5%
Larger Cuts

The maximum size range that can be collected from a single elution is 100 bp. The Pippin Prep has a pause feature that allows users to manually continue to collect samples at 100 bp intervals. Unlike minimum size ranges extractions and single fragment peaks, larger cuts cannot be characterized as a Gaussian distribution, but will have a plateaued profile.
