FLUOstar Optima

POLARstar Optima FLUOstar Omega POLARstar Omega LUMIstar Omega

FLUOstar Omega - Multidetection Microplate Reader - Including Full UV/Vis Absorbance Spectrum

The FLUOstar Omega microplate reader features BMG LABTECH's unique Tandem Technology utilizing high speed UV/Vis spectrometer based absorbance and ultra sensitive filter-based detection in all detection modes such as:

UV/Vis Absorbance - measurement of complete spectra or individual wavelengths

Fluorescence Intensity - including FRET
Time-Resolved Fluorescence - including DELFIA®
TR-FRET - including HTRF® and LanthaScreenTM
AlphaScreen®
High-Performance Luminescence (flash and glow) - including BRET

Advanced Assay Technology Package for the FLUOstar and POLARstar Omega:

Specialized AlphaScreen® mode

High-end TRF optical reading head

BMG LABTECH engineers have designed a specialized measurement mode and optical system to provide the Omega microplate readers with AlphaScreen® performance that rivals any HTS microplate reader. For the first time, experience fantastic AlphaScreen® performance on a mid-range reader.

Furthermore, Advanced Performance TRF is part of the Omega's optional Advanced Assay Technology Package. It utilizes an optional high-end TRF optical reading head that incorporates an assay specific dichroic mirror. Combined with the high intensity xenon flash lamp, assay optimized filters and adjustable gain, the Omega high-end TRF reading head allows the Omega to outperform any microplate reader in the mid-range market.

Additional Features:

The FLUOstar Omega is based on the successful FLUOstar Optima and has adopted and enhanced mature hardware technology and outstanding software features:

Top and bottom reading

Onboard "smart" injectors dispense reagents and initiate kinetic events (e.g. monitoring protein denaturation or the formation of different products in an enzymatic assay over time)
Temperature control up to 60°C
Microplate capacity up to 1536-well format
Impressive well-scanning feature allows cell-based assays to be performed with ease
Automatic optical head recognition and optics switching
Stacker and robot compatibility
Intuitive test protocol set-up and comprehensive data analysis with MARS software
Template manager for transferring standards, building complex data processing protocols and using default templates
Versatile kinetic software features for endpoint, long-term and fast kinetic measurements
Real-time kinetic monitoring
"QuickStart" mode allows users to read plates with just 3 mouse clicks

Featured Applications:

The speed of the spectrometer and the easy work-up in the software provide users with unmatched flexibility that can be used to optimize, e.g. absorbance settings for all experiments.

Monitoring absorbance changes in cellular co-factors NADH and NADPH allowing the determination of enzymatic activity

ELISA, DNA and Bradford protein quantitation assays
Reaction optimization (metallation of porphyrin in twelve different solvents) by parallel kinetic studies

The FLUOstar Omega is a modular microplate reader platform for flexible assay development and cellular analysis that allows versatility in choice of assay read out and detection mode:

Evaluation of PARP inhibitors

Measuring mitochondrial Membrane potential
Ca2+ measurements (e.g. Ca2+ Flux with Fura-2, Indo-1, or FLUO-3/4)
Enzyme activity assays (caspase, protease)
Biomolecular interaction assays (FRET / BRET assays)
DELFIA® assays
Immunoassays, ELISA
Reporter gene assays: GFP, YFP, luciferase, dual luciferase, BRET
ORAC and ABEL antioxidant assays
Protein, DNA and RNA quantification (e.g. PicoGreen®, NanoOrangeTM, Bradford, Lowry, Absorbance 260/280)
